Export registration arranged on location, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The seller is released from liability on the spot, the buyer drives abroad insured and with valid export plates.

  • Proof of release for the seller
  • Export insurance for the buyer
  • From € 149,95 including insurance

What we take care of

Selling or buying a Dutch car that is going abroad? The car must then be deregistered in the Netherlands for export. We come to where the car is and arrange everything in a single appointment.

  • Export registration with the RDW

We register the car for export on the spot. As an RDW-approved company we do this directly in the Dutch vehicle register. The buyer receives the export documents needed to register the car in their own country.

  • Release from liability for the seller

The seller receives a proof of release (vrijwaringsbewijs) immediately. From that moment the seller is no longer liable for the car: road tax, mandatory insurance and MOT obligations end.

  • Export insurance for the buyer

The buyer can take out export insurance with us right away and gets export plates on the car. This way you leave the Netherlands insured and with valid plates.

Clear for both seller and buyer

Both parties know exactly where they stand. This is what you get, and this is what you need to bring.

You are selling the car

You want to be sure the car is no longer in your name once the buyer drives off.

  • You receive a proof of release on the spot
  • No more road tax, insurance or fines in your name
  • No need to travel: we come to you
  • Bring: registration certificate, registration codes and ID

You are buying the car

You want to take the car with you right away and drive home without worries.

  • Export documents for registration in your own country
  • Export plates fitted to the car
  • Export insurance arranged immediately
  • Bring: a valid passport or ID card

How it works

Your export is arranged in four steps.

  1. Step 1: Get in touch

Call, send a WhatsApp or fill in the form. Day or night.

  2. Step 2: Share details and location

We ask for the licence plate, where the car is and when the buyer arrives.

  3. Step 3: We confirm the appointment

You get the price and time straight away. No surprises afterwards.

  4. Step 4: Export handled on location

We deregister the car, the seller gets the proof of release and the buyer leaves with plates and insurance.

What do you need to bring?

With these documents we can complete the export in one go. Not sure you have everything? Send us a photo via WhatsApp and we will check for you.

Lost the code? No problem. Give us a call and we will explain how the seller can request a new registration code from the RDW.

  • Registration certificate

The Dutch registration card (kentekencard, credit-card size). For older cars with a paper certificate: all parts of it.

  • Registration code part 1

The first 4 digits of the code (tenaamstellingscode). The seller received these when the car was registered in their name.

  • Registration code part 2

The last 5 digits. These were in the letter from the RDW that came with the registration card.

  • Valid ID

Passport, ID card or driving licence of the seller, and a passport or ID card of the buyer.

Tailored price

The final price depends on distance, time of day and type of vehicle. Call or message us for a tailored quote; you will get an answer right away.

Service area

We come to you anywhere in the Netherlands: at the seller's home, at a car dealer or any other place where the car is sold.

Availability

24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

The export insurance

Once the car is registered for export, the seller's Dutch insurance ends. Anyone driving the car abroad therefore needs their own export insurance. The buyer can arrange this with us on the spot.

Duration

15 days, matching the period in which you may drive on export plates. The day of registration counts.

Cover

Third-party liability: damage you cause to others with the car. Damage to the car itself is not covered.

Valid in

The Netherlands and the countries you drive through, as listed on the insurance certificate (green card) you receive.

Conditions

The car needs a valid MOT (APK) to be allowed on the road. The insurance is in the buyer's name and cannot be extended.

You receive the insurance certificate and policy conditions immediately. Is the car being transported on a trailer or truck? Then export insurance is not needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is a proof of release and why does the seller need it?

The proof of release (vrijwaringsbewijs) shows the car is no longer registered in the seller's name. Without it, the seller remains responsible for road tax, insurance and any fines, even when the car is already abroad.

How quickly can you be on location?

That depends on the place and time. Often we can come the same day. Call or message us and we will tell you straight away when we can be there.

What does it cost?

Export on location starts at € 149,95, including export insurance. The exact price depends on distance, time and vehicle. You always get the price in advance.

How long can the buyer drive on export plates?

After export registration the car may be driven on Dutch roads for 14 more days, including the day of registration. The car must be insured and have a valid MOT (APK).

The seller has lost the registration code. What now?

The seller can request a new code from the RDW. This takes a few working days. Contact us and we will point you in the right direction.

Do buyer and seller both need to be present?

It is easiest when both are there: the seller for the proof of release and the buyer for the export documents and insurance. Not possible? Call us and we will see what can be done.

How can I pay?

You pay on the spot, by card or cash. You receive an invoice on location or by e-mail.

Do you also work for car dealers?

Yes. If your dealership has no export approval of its own, or you prefer to outsource it, we will come to your premises too.

About ExportOpLocatie

Every day around 1,500 cars leave the Netherlands for export. Car dealers know the process, but private sellers do not sell a car to a foreign buyer every week.

That is why we come to you. We arrange the deregistration, the proof of release and the insurance at the place where the car is sold. Everything is settled properly for both seller and buyer in one visit.

Approved by the RDW

We are approved by the RDW (the Dutch vehicle authority) for export services. This means we are authorised to register vehicles for export directly in the vehicle register. The RDW audits approved companies regularly.
